Theater and Museum

Since Alex enjoyed the last kid's play so much, I got us tickets to go see another. This time, it was a theater version of the kid's book "The Gruffalo." Though I did not know the book, Alex assured me that he did, having read it at school. In the story, a little mouse is scared to be in the forest by itself and invents a friend for herself, a terrible monstrous-looking thing that defends her against all sorts of enemies (a snake etc.) only to find out that she's had a real friend all along. Very cute! In the 2 person play, one actor played the mouse and the second, all the various other characters. Here's the "mouse" with the "Gruffalo"

and the "mouse" with the "snake."

The performance space was not very big, but right in front of the stage, there were several rugs and the organizers invited kids who wanted to, to sit up front. Alex took advantage of the offer and sat immediately in front of the stage for the whole show. He was completely rapt the whole time, entranced and enchanted by the live performance.

After the performance we strolled around the Old Town and spent a lot of time discussing the plot and message of the play as well as some of the choices made by the actors. Our conversations are really getting much more interesting! Here are some impressions from our stroll:

Then we decided to have lunch at a local Döner place.

We were just  heading home when we ran into our friends Kristyn and co. They had their grandparents in town and were on their way to the local history museum. We spontaneously decided to join them.

Here are the kids enjoying the display of Roman life.

The day ended at one of our favorite local cafes. The adults had cake,

while the kids chose popsicles.
